What is the HPI Visa? The High Potential Individual (HPI) Visa is a specialized visa designed for recent graduates from the world’s leading universities. This visa category was introduced by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) on May 30, 2022, benefiting individuals who graduated between November 1, 2021, and October 31, 2022.

The HPI Route: A Golden Opportunity for Talented Graduates
The UK government designed the HPI pathway to attract elite global graduates, allowing them to build their careers in the UK immediately after completing their degrees. Unlike other visa routes, the HPI visa does not require applicants to secure a job offer before applying.
Additionally, the UK government has released a list of eligible universities ranked among the world’s top institutions between 2016 and 2020. If you are a graduate from one of these universities, you can apply for the HPI visa without a job offer.
Eligibility Requirements for the HPI Visa
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have obtained a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Post-Doctorate degree from an eligible university within the past five years.
- Must fulfill the English language proficiency requirement through:
- Being from an English-speaking country.
- Passing an approved English test.
- Holding a degree that demonstrates English proficiency.
- Must meet the financial requirement of having at least £1,270 in cash.
Note: UK university graduates are not eligible for this visa. However, if you are already in the UK on a student visa, you may be eligible for a Graduate Visa instead.
