About Saskatchewan – The Canadian Prairie Province

The name “Saskatchewan” originates from a Cree word meaning “swiftly flowing river.” It is one of Canada’s three Prairie Provinces, alongside Alberta and Manitoba. Together with British Columbia, these four provinces form the Canadian Western Provinces. Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

As a part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) provides opportunities for individuals to settle in the province as permanent residents.

SINP Categories The SINP consists of four main categories:

Important Announcements

  • New Proof of Funds Requirement:
    • Effective August 30, 2024, SINP applicants under the Occupations In-Demand and Express Entry sub-categories must meet the updated proof of settlement funds requirements set by IRCC.
    • From May 27, 2024, all PR applications submitted to IRCC must comply with these new financial requirements.
  • SINP Excluded Occupation List:
    • Certain occupations are excluded from eligibility under the SINP Occupations In-Demand (OID) and Express Entry (EE) sub-categories. Applicants should verify their occupation’s eligibility before applying.

Employment Offer

Occupations In-Demand

No

Meet CLB 4, have completed at least one year of post-secondary education, relevant work experience in an in-demand occupation, obtain required licensure, and show proof of settlement funds.

Saskatchewan Express Entry

No

Be in the Express Entry pool, meet language and education requirements, have relevant work experience, obtain licensure if necessary, and have a settlement plan.

Health Professionals

Different requirements for physicians, nurses, and other health professionals, but generally a valid work permit, job offer, and job approval letter.

Hospitality Sector Project

At least six months of employment in Saskatchewan, job offer from an approved employer in food service or housekeeping roles, CLB 4, job approval letter.

Long Haul Truck Driver Project

Yes

At least six months of experience with an approved trucking firm, Saskatchewan Class 1A license, job offer, job approval letter, CLB 4.

Graduate of a Saskatchewan institution, CLB 4, six months of Saskatchewan work experience, valid PGWP, job offer in the field of study.

Requirements

Entrepreneur Sub-Category

Minimum three years of entrepreneurial experience in the last ten years, equity investment of CAD $300,000 in Regina/Saskatoon or $200,000 elsewhere, Business Establishment Plan, ownership of at least one-third of business equity, job creation for two Canadians (if in Regina/Saskatoon), must live in Saskatchewan.

Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category

Must demonstrate farm knowledge and experience, have a viable farm proposal, and meet financial requirements.

Young Farmer Stream (Additional Requirements)

  • At least three years of experience in farm ownership or management
  • Potential for additional income through spouse/common-law partner’s employment skills
  1. International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

For international graduates from Saskatchewan institutions who wish to start a business in the province.

Must be at least 21 years old, have completed a two-year full-time post-secondary program from a Saskatchewan institution, hold a valid PGWP (minimum two years), lived in Saskatchewan during studies, CLB 7.

General Eligibility Criteria for SINP

  • Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
  • Minimum 60 points on the SINP assessment grid
  • Minimum CLB 4 (or IELTS 6.0)
  • One year of skilled work experience
  • Job offer may be required depending on the stream
  • Job must be in NOC skill level 0, A, or B
  • Commitment to settling in Saskatchewan
